PDNBKA is pleased to once again host the Texas Master Beekeeper Program (TMBP) certification exams in El Paso. This year's testing will include both the Apprentice and Advanced levels.

2026 El Paso Exam

  • Date: Thursday, October 8, 2026
  • Time: 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM
  • Location: El Paso County – Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service

  • Levels Offered: Apprentice and Advanced
  • Program/Course Fee: $75 – the in-person exam is included with the applicable TMBP course

Important Information for Candidates

The Apprentice level includes written, practical, and in-hive testing. Apprentice candidates should plan to bring appropriate protective equipment, including a bee suit or veil, gloves, hive tool, smoker, and lighter.

The Advanced level includes written and practical testing and does not require an in-hive portion.

Local PDNBKA Exam Prep Session

PDNBKA is planning a local exam preparation session for members and area beekeepers preparing for the Apprentice and Advanced exams.

The session will be led by VK Mel, Bob Reneau, and Michael Hallberg and will focus on reviewing important concepts, practical skills, and helping candidates prepare for the testing process.

Date, time, and location will be announced soon.

Additional information will be shared through the PDNBKA website, member communications, and social media once the session is finalized.

PDNBKA Monthly Meeting Following the Exam

Our regular PDNBKA October Monthly Meeting will begin at 6:30 PM at the same location immediately following the exam session.

About the Texas Master Beekeeper Program

The Texas Master Beekeeper Program is a training and certification program administered by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension. The program provides a structured pathway for beekeepers to strengthen their knowledge, practical skills, and involvement in beekeeping education and service.

The program includes four certification levels:

  • Apprentice Beekeeper
  • Advanced Beekeeper
  • Master Beekeeper
  • Master Craftsman Beekeeper

All participants begin at the Apprentice level and progress through the program as they meet the requirements for each certification level.

2025 El Paso Exam Results

PDNBKA hosted the TMBP Apprentice exam in El Paso on October 5, 2025, in partnership with Texas A&M AgriLife.

We were proud to have 11 local beekeepers take the Apprentice Level exam, with all 11 passing – a 100% pass rate.

PDNBKA also hosted a free local preparation session before the exam covering bee biology, hive management, pests and diseases, safety, and practical exam readiness.

We are excited to continue supporting area beekeepers as they advance through the Texas Master Beekeeper Program.
